Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to assist in overseeing our financial operations and ensure accuracy in our accounting processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing accounting, with expertise in cost accounting, financial reporting, and ERP systems. Reporting to our Controller, the Senior Accountant will manage complex financial tasks, support strategic decision-making, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closings.
- Oversee accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes, ensuring timely and accurate transactions.
- Conduct cost accounting tasks, including inventory valuation, cost of goods sold (COGS) analysis, and production cost tracking specific to electronics manufacturing.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support strategic financial planning.
- Utilize current accounting software in Global Shop Solutions ERP to streamline financial processes.
- Prepare for and support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights for manufacturing operations, such as cost optimization and inventory management.
- Monitor cash flow, bank reconciliations, and fixed asset schedules.
- Mentor and guide junior accounting staff, including bookkeepers, to ensure accuracy and efficiency in financial operations.
- Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed to support leadership decisions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA certification preferred but not required).
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or electronics industry.
- Strong proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and financial reporting standards.
- Experience with inventory reconciliation, COGS analysis, and manufacturing cost accounting.
- Proven ability to manage month-end closings, audits, and financial statement preparation.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations and leadership.
- Familiarity with payroll processing and tax compliance is a plus.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in the electronics manufacturing industry or similar sectors.
- Proficiency with advanced ERP functionalities specific to manufacturing processes.
- Leadership experience in mentoring or supervising junior accounting staff.
