Senior Accountant

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to assist in overseeing our financial operations and ensure accuracy in our accounting processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing accounting, with expertise in cost accounting, financial reporting, and ERP systems. Reporting to our Controller, the Senior Accountant will manage complex financial tasks, support strategic decision-making, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). 
  • Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closings. 
  • Oversee accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes, ensuring timely and accurate transactions. 
  • Conduct cost accounting tasks, including inventory valuation, cost of goods sold (COGS) analysis, and production cost tracking specific to electronics manufacturing. 
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support strategic financial planning. 
  • Utilize current accounting software in Global Shop Solutions ERP to streamline financial processes. 
  • Prepare for and support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights for manufacturing operations, such as cost optimization and inventory management. 
  • Monitor cash flow, bank reconciliations, and fixed asset schedules. 
  • Mentor and guide junior accounting staff, including bookkeepers, to ensure accuracy and efficiency in financial operations. 
  • Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed to support leadership decisions.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA certification preferred but not required). 
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or electronics industry. 
  • Strong proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel. 
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and financial reporting standards. 
  • Experience with inventory reconciliation, COGS analysis, and manufacturing cost accounting. 
  • Proven ability to manage month-end closings, audits, and financial statement preparation. 
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail. 
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations and leadership. 
  • Familiarity with payroll processing and tax compliance is a plus. 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Skills: 

  • Experience in the electronics manufacturing industry or similar sectors. 
  • Proficiency with advanced ERP functionalities specific to manufacturing processes. 
  • Leadership experience in mentoring or supervising junior accounting staff.
